Crafting Tip # 1

What to do if you were left with white cord or string but you'll be needing several different colors and there's no available around?

Well, let us give you one solution.. DYE it!

Fabric Dye

Fabric Dye are available in many colors. This can be buy at our local school supplies stores. This dye can be applied with cotton cord, yarn and embroidery floss. Although using this technique can be time and effort consuming, its all worth it! Using fabric dye even more fun 'cause you can combine colors of your choice.

Here's one video tutorial on how to hand dyed an embroidery floss that can also be apply with other cord or string. You can copy (just like what we did) the technique showed in this video.

Bushman's Thong

This was sent by one of our customer who just recently ordered paracord from us. He use the paracord to make "BUSHMAN'S THONG". 

He said that, in senior scouts, they have to tie it on their own bushman's thong before they can be awarded the King's Scout.

Basically if you see any youngster wearing this cord together with a king's scout badge, then that means he is a tested and certified king's scout with a certificate issued by national hq and signed by all the sultans and rajas in malaysia. If you see an adult wearing this cord, that means he is the warranted, trained and certified assessor for king's scouts.

Beads Hopping

We went to Penang yesterday for other reason but we managed to go around Lebuh Campbell and we found beads shop along that road. But most of the stores are selling ready made beads bracelets, necklace etc. till we found Bead Zone which selling loose beads. This skull beads catches our attention! We're planning to use this skulls beads for paracord bracelets. Let's see what we can do!

Ever wonder how a paracord knotter's hands look like?

Because most of the paracord have rough texture, it tends to give the knotter some blisters (which is can be hurt sometimes). Better way to avoid it is to put some protection. But that's only for the meantime though, you will get used to it :)

HOW TO MEASURE MY WRIST SIZE for BRACELET?

STEP 1 : Measure your Wrist with a flexible tape measurements or a strip of paper just below the wrist bone, where you would normally wear your bracelet and measure it 

STEP 2 : If you are using a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen on that paper. Then measure that paper strip with a ruler. That would be your wrist size.

STEP 3 : To find your bracelet size, just add your wrist size with the appropriate measurements below.

FITTING STYLE                                Add inch (es) to your wrist size

SNUG FIT (no allowance)                   Add 1/4" - 1/2"

COMFORT FIT                                  Add 3/4" - 1"

LOOSE FIT                                        Add 1 1/4"

Fishbone Bracelet

As I said on my post yesterday, Paracord Malaysia wont use paracord alone in making our products. We now starting to use different kind of cord, string or rope for our craft items.

In the picture, this is a fishbone bracelet, I dont know what's the name of the cord I used with it (i'll check with the store where I bought it and i'll update with the name).

Knot today..

Hmm.. So what we have for today.. Well, just last night i had a chance to talked with our "paracord business partner" from Australia, and yeah.. he will make us busy this week. We've done with Mother's Day item. And in preparation for Father's Day next month.. as early as now we'll start to make items for the occasion :) And also, we have to make sample design bracelets for ladies using the paracord.

The concept for the paracord bracelet is somehow like in the picture. That bracelet is called Shamballa Bracelet or Discoball Bracelet. Now, our slight problem is that where to get those beads! (Help!)

Anyway, we'll keep our blog posted regarding this.

Trivia: Discoball bracelets are the hottest hip hop accessory of 2011. These disco ball style bracelets are seen on rappers like Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and other superstars like Lebron James.

We're Back!

We lost track of our blog these past few months (from February till April) that is because we'd been busy with our other business (by the way, the company operating Paracord Malaysia which is called Dozen Needles Enterprise is mainly engaged into embroidery business). But within our MIA ("missing in action") times.. we never stop to discover and learn new knot techniques. We research through Internet, books etc. for different types of weave/ knot that we can apply in our lanyard, key chain and bracelet making. In our goal to reach larger customer/ market, those people not into "Outdoor" stuff or activities, but just want to have a touch of fashionable crafts in their life, aside from using paracord, we also trying different cord, rope or string as of now.

So expect more from us!
